C3 Corvettes in the Salvage Yard
It is never much fun to see a Corvette in a salvage yard, but for the rest of us trying to keep a C3 on the road, a picked-over car can be a goldmine. A lot of the small stuff on these cars, the trim, the emblems, interior pieces, brackets and glass, was never reproduced, or the reproduction parts are poor, so a good used original is worth pulling.
When you walk a yard, the parts worth grabbing are the ones that do not rust or wear out: emblems and script, interior trim panels, dash pieces, window glass, door hardware, wiper and washer bits, and the odd bracket you did not know you needed until yours breaks. Leave the rusty structural steel where it lies. The photos below are a mix of yard finds and cars that were a little too far gone to save.
