What makes a 1970 Corvette a 1970

1970 brought the flared wheel openings and the egg-crate side vents and grille that would define the look of the car into the mid seventies. The small block was offered as the LT-1, a solid-lifter 350 rated at 370 horsepower and one of the most sought-after C3 engines. At the other end of the range the 454 replaced the 427. The seats and interior trim were improved, and production was short because the model year started late, which makes 1970 one of the lower volume C3 years.

Below are the 1970 cars that readers of Corvette-C3.com have sent in over the years, in the words of the people who own them. Click any photo to see it full size. If you own a 1970, send yours in and it will be added here.

This is my 1970 - Laguna Gray. I'm in Ontario, Canada and picked this baby up with only 31,750 miles. It is numbers matching, 350-300hp and is an all original low options car.

Paul's 1970 Corvette

Santa came a little early this year and I would love to show you what he dropped off. 1970, all #'s matching L46 with 4 speed! I have looked for a while to find this model, color, transmission and condition. I am looking forward to some springtime weather so I can get out to some shows. The weather was actually nice today so I applied the poor boy process of polish followed by sealer then final wax. It was a great day! My daughter is pretty happy with the car also.

This is my 1970 that I got last fall. It has a 350 small block 350hp with a 4 speed and hooker side pipes. The interior needs a bit of work as I don't like the way some of the panels fit and the engine compartment needs to be cleaned up (wires and hoses not ran properly). So no picture of that until I get it looking nice.

Brian's 1970 Corvette

Featured on the site Mar 29, 2009

I just bought the car, got it a week ago. I purchased it from a guy in California who bought it from the original owner in Michigan. I saw pictures and it was in a terrible condition. My seller restored it and pretty much brought it back from the dead. It is essentially 'all original', no performance mods of any kind, the original base 300 hp engine, Corvette Bronze exterior and tan vinyl interior, 4 speed Muncie. It has a little over 83k miles on it. I had it shipped to me in Miami (when the truck arrived at my house, it was a big deal, my kids went crazy).

Mark's 1970 Corvette

My car is a 1970 big block with auto tranny and air. No power windows or tilt wheel, but it does have power steering and brakes.
