1973 Corvette Interior Colors and Trim Codes
Five interior colours were offered for 1973. Below is every trim code, the exterior colours each was suggested with, and how to read the code stamped on your trim tag.
1973 interior trim codes
| Interior colour | Vinyl | Leather |
|---|---|---|
| Black | 400 | 404 |
| Dark Blue | 413 | not offered |
| Medium Saddle | 415 | 416 |
| Dark Saddle | 418 | 422 |
| Dark Red | 425 | not offered |
How to read your trim code
Through this part of the run the trim code is a plain three-digit number with no letter in it, and the number alone tells you both the colour and the material. Read it off the trim tag, the small plate riveted to the driver's side of the body just inside the door opening, where it sits next to the paint code. Match the number against the table above: the same colour usually carries one number in vinyl and a different one in leather, so the code distinguishes a leather car from a vinyl one even when the seats have long since been recovered.
What each 1973 interior came with
This is the same factory chart the 1973 colour page carries, turned round. That page starts from the paint and tells you what could go inside. This one starts from the trim code, which is the way round you need when you have read the tag and want to know whether the car left the factory in the combination it wears now.

Seats and trim in 1973
The custom interior with leather trim cost $154.00 and 13,434 cars had it, a sharp jump on the years before. 1973 also brought new sound deadening sprayed onto the inner panels and a sound-absorbing pad under the hood, so a 1973 is noticeably quieter inside than a 1972.
The interior chart for every model year from 1968 to 1982 is on the C3 interior trim page. The exterior paint codes for this year, with how many cars wore each colour, are on the 1973 colour page, and the full option list is on the 1973 specifications page.
