Corvette Specification Manuals

What is in the specification manuals
These are the books Chevrolet supplied to its dealers, one for each model year. They set out how a Corvette was built and sold that year: the engines offered and their ratings, the transmission and axle combinations, the option list with the RPO codes and prices, the paint and trim choices, dimensions, weights and capacities.
Because they are year-specific, they are the cleanest way to settle a question about what was possible on a given car. If someone tells you a 1974 could be ordered with a particular combination, the 1974 book either lists it or it does not. That matters when you are buying a car described as rare, or trying to work out whether a car left the factory the way it sits now.
How to use them
Start from your car's model year, not from a general list, because the codes are reused across years and mean different things in different books. Get the year from the VIN, then read the trim tag against that year's manual. The RPO decoder on this site does the same job interactively for the option codes, and the colour code page covers paint and interior trim.
Each file is a small download, roughly 2 to 6 MB. For part numbers and exploded illustrations rather than specifications, the parts manuals are the companion set.
